DISTRICT SALES MANAGER JOB OVERVIEW: FDI seeks to employ an experienced, highly motivated, and professional individual for the position of District Sales Manager (DSM).  This position will be responsible for all district sales and support functions of FDI’s products.  The DSM must have the skill and will to both 1) Provide sales management to the district and 2) Provide salesmanship to the individual territories making up the district.


  •  Provide sales management to the district by setting sales and training goals by month for each Manufacturers Representative (Representative), creating a strategy to achieve set goals, implement tactics of the strategy, measure and communicate with Representatives actual performance against goals, and make adjustments necessary to achieve quarterly and annual performance goals.
  •  Exceed district sales objectives.  Achieving this will be a function of working with and through appointed manufacturer’s representatives to call on specifying engineers and mechanical contractors to create an automatic balancing valve and Flow Design brand preference.
  •  Plan a sales coverage schedule that provides monthly and quarterly sales management and joint sales calls with primary and secondary territory markets respectively. Travel could be as much as 50% within the district.
  • Be intimate with each territory's top Specifying Engineering firms, Balancing, and Mechanical contractors.



  • At least 2-4+ years of manufacturing sales  experience.  Preference given to experience working through manufacturer’s representatives calling on engineering firms and mechanical contractors.
  • Professional and polished individual who is organized, internally driven, a team player and detail oriented.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with hydronics and hydronic balancing valves knowledge and experience.
  • Ability to travel enough to achieve district objectives.  Could be as much as 50%.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with manufacturer’s representatives, distributors, contractors, engineering firms, and other sales prospects/customers.
  • Experience in product training and presentations to customers.
  • Experience managing a district sales territory with extensive travel is highly preferred. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal and time management skills.


  •  Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.
  •  Hydronic balancing valve experience/knowledge.
